Week 4 Bella

De zwangerschap bij de hond
WEEK 4
Het embryo krijgt een hoofd en de organen ontwikkelen zich. Het hartje begint te kloppen en het gewicht is nu zo'n 50 gram per pup. De moeder heeft vanaf nu vaak een wat slijmerige uitvloeiing uit de vulva, maar houdt zichzelf prima schoon. Omstreeks deze tijd kan men een echo laten maken dat hebben we tot op heden slechts keer laten doen. Er is nu toch niets meer te veranderen, en over enkele dagen/weken krijgen we vanzelf meer zekerheid!

WEEK 4

The embryo now has a head and the organs are starting to develop. The beating of the heart will start and each pup now weighs about 50 grams. The mother now may have a slimy discharge out of her vulva, but she will keep herself clean. It's now also possible to do an ultrasound, however up to now we have never chosen to do one. Whatever the result will be, there is nothing you can change about it at this point, besides in just a few more days/weeks we will know it for certain anyway!

Bella's etenslust is nu flink afgenomen. Met een beetje moeite gaat er nog wel wat in wat ze echt niet kan weerstaan. Ook is (helaas) de misselijkheid begonnen, maar hopelijk is ze daar snel weer vanaf. Ondanks de verminderde eetlust en het overgeven is ze wel al ongeveer 4 ons aangekomen. Hier is Bella vandaag, kijkend naar de buurkinderen die vast begonnen waren met het afsteken van vuurwerk. 

Bella has lost her appetite. With some effort she is willing to eat tiny bits of food she really can't resist. Unfortunately for her she also has morning sickness. Despite her lack of appetite and the morning sickness she did gain about 14 oz.
This is Bella today, watching the children with their fireworks.

Week 3 Bella

De zwangerschap bij de hond
WEEK 3
In de 3e week nestelen zich de embryo's in de baarmoederwand. Soms kan men nu reeds iets verandering in het gedrag van de a.s. moeder bespeuren, en vooral bij een 1e zwangerschap worden de tepels mooi roze. Sommige teefjes worden nu wat rustiger en slapen veel. Ook laten velen hun eten onaangeroerd, wij doen ons best om het nog wat smakelijker te maken met wat vers vlees of wat puppy-brokjes. Ochtendmisselijkheid komt ook voor in deze periode.

WEEK 3
The embryo's are now moving more towards the side of the uterus. Sometimes the first changes in behavior are now noticeable. Some dogs are taking it more easy now and they sleep a lot. Many of them refuse to eat. We try our very best to make the food taste even better by adding more freshly cooked meat or some puppy kibble. Morning sickness might also occur during this period in the pregnancy.

Bella eet nog steeds prima, maar ze doet er steeds langer over om haar bak leeg te krijgen. Ze wat rustiger en wat minder speels. Gelukkig heeft ze (nog) geen last van overgeven.

Bella's  appetite is still fine, but she does take a lot more time to finish her bowl with food. She is a bit more quiet and don't want to play that much any more. Fortunately for her she does not (yet) have morning sickness.

Nog meer sneeuw! / More snow!

Met zoveel sneeuw moeten er natuurlijk nog meer sneeuw foto's volgen!

Let it snow let snow let it snow...

Wie had dat nou gedacht. Nadat we afgelopen winter in Canada de langste winter ooit meegemaakt hebben (van november tot en met april sneeuw!), valt er hier ook een dik pak sneeuw! Het is prachtig en de honden vinden het GE-WEL-DIG!

Now who would have thought that! After having the longest winter ever in Canada (from November to April snow!), we now received a big pile of snow here too! It's beautiful and the dogs LOVE it! 

Crumble & Ollie

Wij kregen deze onderstaande mooi foto's van Crumble en Ollie. De eigenaren van Crumble waren met haar naar de show geweest in Brussel en hebben daar deze foto laten maken van haar. Het baasje van Ollie liet weten dat hij inmiddels uitgevonden had hoe hij op de bank kan komen en dat was meteen een mooie gelegenheid om een foto van hem te maken. 

We received these two beautiful pictures below of Crumble and Ollie. Crumble's owners took her to the dogshow in Brussels last week and they took this picture of her there. Ollie's owner told us that he figured out how to get onto the couch, so that was a good moment to take a picture.

Week 2 Bella

De zwangerschap bij de hond
WEEK 1-2
Tussen de 9e en 12e dag van de loopsheid vindt de dekking plaats. Soms is een progesteron-test handig, als je het niet precies weet. De eerste 2 weken merken we weinig, de hond gedraagt zich als altijd en krijgt haar normale beweging en voer. Wel van zeer goede kwaliteit natuurlijk! Vanaf de dag van dekking wordt "mams" zwanger behandeld; totdat het tegendeel bewezen is!

WEEK 1-2

Between the 9th and 12th day of the heat, the mating will take place. Sometimes it's convenient to do a progesterone test, to determine the right time to do the mating. You don't notice very much in the first two weeks, the dog is acting like she always have and she gets her normal daily exercise and food. Of course high quality food! Starting from the day of the mating "mommy" will be treated as pregnant.

Week 1 - Bella

Is ze wel of is ze niet zwanger....
Ja we kunnen er nu nog niet veel over zeggen. De dekking is inmiddels een week geleden en we nemen kleine veranderingen in haar gedrag waar, maar helemaal zeker weten we het natuurlijk nog niet. De tijd zal het leren!

Is she or is she not pregnant...
Well there is not much we can say about that at this point. The mating took place a week ago and we did notice some small changes in her behavior, but we can't say anything for sure right now. Time will tell!

Bella & Wizard.... Puppies??

Afgelopen week zijn we naar Tjechie afgereisd voor de dekking van Bella met Wizard (Lemosa Hopes Mandrake) van de Z Jerene Kennel. We hebben een paar gezellige dagen gehad, genoten van het prachtige Praag, samen met Katerina Joskova en haar gezin hebben we heerlijk genoten van de Tjechische gerechten.
En nu maar hopen dat het gelukt is en dat we in de eerste week van februari 2010 puppen kunnen verwachten!
Bedankt Katerina voor je goede zorgen voor Bella en gastvrijheid, we vonden het erg gezellig!

Last week we went to the Czech Republic for a mating for Bella with Wizard (Lemosa Hopes Mandrake) from the Z Jerene kennel. We had a great time there, loved city the city of Prague again and together with Katerina Joskova and her family we enjoyed the Czech Cuisine.
Now all we have to do is hope that the mating was successful and hopefully we will have pups again in the first week of February of 2010!
Thank you Katerina for taking such good care of Bella and your hospitality, we really enjoyed ourselves.

Call the Man of the Hunters Pride aka BUDDY!

Vandaag heb ik Buddy voor het eerst in bijna 10 weken weer terug gezien. Het is werkelijk ongelooflijk om te zien dat het nog precies een mini uitvoering van zijn vader is! Hij maakt zelfs dezelfde kreungeluiden als je hem kroelt hahaha.
Wilma en John, de baasjes van Buddy, hadden mij bij hun thuis in Maastricht uitgenodigd. Het was ontzettend leuk Buddy en zijn grote 'broer' Hunter (King Bassie's Harry Potter) en uiteraard Wilma en John weer terug te zien.
Wilma heeft me ook nog mee genomen naar het centrum van Maastricht. Ik ben daar wel al een paar keer geweest maar het is toch anders om het met iemand die het zo goed kent als zij te bekijken.

After almost 10 weeks I saw Buddy again! It was truly unbelievable how much this dog still resembles his father! He even makes the same noise when you pet him LOL. Wilma and John, Buddy's owners, invited me to their home in Maastricht. It was great to see Wilma and John and of course Buddy and his big 'brother' (King Bassie's Harry Potter) again.
Wilma also showed me around in the city of Maastricht. I have been there a couple of times before but it's always more fun to visit it with someone that knows so much about the city.

Ollie & Crumble

Wat gaat de tijd toch hard, Ollie is al een echte kerel aan het worden! 

Time really flies, Ollie is already turning into a big boy!
Crumble is voor het met haar baasjes op vakantie geweest. Helemaal naar Polen, het land waar haar vrouwtje vandaan komt. Ze heeft voor het eerst haar Poolse familie ontmoet. Deze foto is van Crumble samen met haar oma. Volgens haar vrouwtje, Maria, is Crumble een ervaren reizigster. Met het vliegtuig naar Polen was geen enkel probleem. Waarschijnlijk hebben ze echt mee gekregen in de baarmoeder toen ze als puppies in de buik van hun moeder Pink van Vancouver naar Amsterdam zijn gevlogen. 

Crumble went all the way to Poland for a Holiday trip! Her 'mommy' is from this country and Crumble got to meet her Polish family! This picture is of Crumble and her grandmother. According to her 'mommy', Maria, Crumble is a true traveler. Being on board of the plane was really no problem for her. Perhaps they were already used to it, because they traveled in their mothers womb from Vancouver to Amsterdam.

Dax 6 jaar / Dax 6 years old

Vandaag is onze grote kleine Dax jarig! En hij wordt alweer 6 jaar!!! Maar hij ziet er nog steeds super jong uit want iedereen denkt altijd dat hij de pup van de familie is hahaha. Hier is Dax tussen al zijn cadeautjes van opa en oma en ons.

Our little man Dax turned 6 today! But he still looks very young, because everybody always thinks he is the puppy of the family LOL. Here is Dax surrounded by all the gifts he received from us and from his grandpa and grandma.

Dorus

Vandaag kreeg ik echt een super grappige reeks foto's van Ans en Wim de baasjes van Dorus (Country Boy of the Hunters Pride). Ze hadden voor mij geprobeerd om Dorus in stand te zetten zodat we hem eens wat beter konden bekijken. Harstikke leuk natuurlijk, maar nog leuker was de foto reeks van de aanloop naar de standfoto, of het "staatsieportret" zoals ze het zelf zo mooi noemde :-) Echt geweldig! Kijk mee:
